Princess Henrietta Anne (Minette) was the youngest daughter of Charles 1 and his wife Henrietta Maria of France. Following the execution of her father, the young Henrietta fled to France where she later married Philippe , Duke of Orleans. Henrietta Anne died in 1670, aged just 26.

The son of a saddle-maker, Jan Mytens (or Mijtens) was a Dutch painter of Flemish origin. In 1639 he was admitted to The Hague’s Guild of Painters and in 1656 he became the governor of the institution. He was also instrumental in the foundation of the painter’s society De Pictura.
