All eight have maintained their current high standards this year to ensure they retain their Green Flags, with local communities playing a key role in securing the awards.

Cllr Chris Bond, Enfield Council's Cabinet member for Environment, said: “We have some fantastic green spaces in Enfield and it’s not hard to see how popular and valued they are.

“We have been working very hard with Friends of Parks groups to ensure we retain our Green Flag standard. Being awarded Green Flag in the first place is a huge achievement, but with the criteria so challenging, retaining them from year to year is just as impressive.

”Enfield is one of the greenest boroughs in London and were delighted that our open spaces are recognised as the high quality, beautifully maintained areas they are.

"In common with many other local authorities our parks service has had to make savings because of the national financial situation and it’s a testament to the dedication of our friends groups and parks staff that we've been able to maintain our excellent standards in these parks."
