Forty Hall will be reopening to the public on the weekend of Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July 2012 following a major restoration project funded by Enfield Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund. A publicly-accessible week of tours, talks and activities will run as part of the celebrations, kick-starting a newly-enhanced annual event programme.

The Hall’s usual public opening days and hours will be unveiled soon.

The building has undergone some magnificent changes including; the installation of a replica Jacobean style staircase in its original configuration, a lift providing access to all three levels, refurbishment of the Long Gallery, sympathetic redecoration of interior rooms and the revival of the inner courtyard, now covered by an exquisite glass roof.

Work up at the Hall has uncovered some exciting finds including Sir Nicholas Rainton’s original paint scheme from the 1630s, and later paint scheme from 1708, information about Rainton’s Jacobean Pageant and his Last Will and Testament. Our findings will inform exciting new interpretation, education programmes for schools, families, young and older people, and an opening exhibition at the Hall as we tell the story of Rainton’s life and achievements.

Forty Hall & Estate will be available to hire for meetings, events, weddings and exhibitions. More information will follow as we edge ever closer to reopening!
