Discover’s London Children’s Book Swap taking over London

Over 40 venues across London will be celebrating Discover’s London Children’s Book Swap’sseventh birthday onSaturday 10 February, when all their doors will open to anyone wanting to recycle children’s books – and give children new books to read.

A love of reading shared - such a simple idea that was created byDiscover in 2012, who continue to encourage and build this exciting free annual event across London. Bring an old book to your closest London Children’s Book Swap venue and pick up a different book to take home for free.

To take place here at Forty Hall in Enfield Saturday 10th February 12 – 3pm.

For one day only, literally thousands of books will be swapped in an action packed day of free activities at over 40 venues, across 15 London boroughs, working with and using the ideas developed by Discover. Some of the venues include: Soho theatre. Institut Français Kensington, Charlton House, Polka Theatre Wimbledon, Southbank Centre and The Deptford Lounge.

This year’s theme will be The Gruffalo, with Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s character visiting book lovers across the city on the day.

Discoveralways works closely with each of the venues taking part, and to get the ‘starting pool of books to swap’ rolling, Discoverwill be taking donations of books to distribute amongst all the venues involved in London Children’s Book Swap. Interested in making a book donation? Then contact Sophie Waddy at Discover Children’s Story Centre: sophie.waddy@discover.org.uk or 020 8536 5568.
