Wheely Great News For Forty Hall
Visitors To Forty Hall Can Now Get Around Even More Easily As Bikes And Mobility Scooters Can Be Borrowed Free Of Charge At The Hall, Courtesy Of Enfield Council.
Although booking is not necessary, it is worth checking availability during busy periods and cyclists may want to consider bringing their own safety helmets. No deposit is required but credit card details will be taken.
The hall has 6 bikes (3 adult, 3 children), and 2 mobility scooters which can be borrowed for up to 6 hours. Bikes or scooters can be borrowed during hall opening hours which can be found online.
Cllr Bambos Charalambous, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Youth and Localism said: “Forty Hall is a fantastic location steeped in history and one Enfield Council wants as many people as possible to learn about and enjoy. That is why we are opening the area up to would-be explorers by providing free bikes and mobility scooters to get around on.
“This latest initiative builds on a range of improvements already carried out at the hall designed to make it accessible for disabled people and those who cannot walk long distances and I’m sure the mobility scooters will prove to be a popular addition to the facilities there.”
Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Chris Bond, said: “We want to make our services and attractions accessible to everyone and this is a fantastic opportunity to open up this superb location to people who might not otherwise be able to enjoy it. Enfield is one of the greenest boroughs in London and we want to encourage as many people as possible to enjoy them.”
Forty Hall underwent a £4.2m million refurbishment in 2011 to restore and refurbish the interior, install a lift making all floors accessible and alter the hall so that it was more true to how it would have been when it was first built.
