The Cultural History of Enfield Lecture (Enfield Poets Literary Festival)

Saturday 26th September, 3pm - 4pm

After the riveting lecture ‘Fascinating Florence’ in 2025, M. Anne is back for another Literary Festival with us.

She will speak about the beauty of the countryside around Enfield, the literature it has inspired over the centuries and begin to explore the impact of compulsory elementary education in encouraging reading and appreciation of nature.

M. Anne Alexander is a poet and author whose work explores the restorative power of landscape, memory and place. A long-standing member of Enfield Poets, she has been widely published in journals and anthologies, and is the author of the poetry collections Waterways (2024) and Wildflowers (2021), as well as award-winning poetry and short fiction.

The Enfield Poets Literary Festival is a celebration of words, voices and creativity in our community, bringing together established and emerging writers for readings, workshops, discussions and more.
