Discover the customs, food, decorations and the social traditions that shaped a Georgian Christmas, and learn how Jane Austen's own experiences inspired the festive scenes found throughout her novels.
Valerie Darville is a poet, writer and co-founder of Enfield Poets, where she continues to play an active role in supporting the local literary community. Widely published and twice placed in the Bridport Prize, she has directed numerous poetry events featuring leading voices including Simon Armitage, Carol Ann Duffy, Andrew Motion and Ruth Padel, and is known for her engaging talks on literature, history and women's education.
