Rainton Pageant - Saturday 3rd November - 5pm start, Enfield Town arriving at Forty Hall 6.00pm - 8pm FREE!

This week Sir Nicholas Rainton and some specially selected guests took time out from their busy schedules to officially invite the people of Enfield to some very special events.

Sir Nicholas is indeed busy, being a merchant, running his own business in the city, being an Alderman and then Mayor of London. But he found time to return to his home, Forty Hall to make sure everyone is invited to the Rainton Pageant.

Taking place on Saturday 3rd November, it begins at 5pm in Enfield Town and will be a spectacle of celebration, light, music and performance. A procession will then make its way to Forty Hall, led by Sir Nicholas, which will celebrate the life and times of this great statesman.

The parade ends at Forty Hall where the true festivities begin! Strolling minstrels, fire eaters, music to suit all tastes, dancing, renactments and much more.. finishing at 8pm which will be just in time for those who wish to make it to Town Park to watch the fireworks.

The Rainton Pageant Parade and entry to the festival is free, however some minimal charges apply for the fantastic drop-in activity sessions taking place from 12noon on the day of the pageant; from pomander making to Jacobean collar making there’s plenty to do and each activity is only £1 per person!

What’s more creative half-term workshops will also be taking place at Forty Hall & Estate from Monday 29th October till Friday 2nd November providing you with ample opportunities to create some beautiful things to wear as part of the Pageant. Make your own lacey lantern or animal mask – ideal for children aged 5-14. These high-quality workshops will be led by the Forty Hall & Estate Learning & Education Officer, a qualified teacher and are a snip at £20 for the full day (£10 for a half-day workshop).

Cllr Bambos Charalambous, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture said “The Rainton Pageant is going to be one of this year’s ‘must-see’ events. It has already been booked for The Lord Mayor’s Show on 10th November but Enfield gets to see it first.

“A spectacle of fire, lights, music and dance transports you back to the world of Sir Nicholas Rainton for one evening. Be entertained by performers; enjoy a hog roast lit by lanterns and marvel at the spectacle of newly refurbished Forty Hall. Children and adults alike will be thrilled at the entertainment on offer, and when it is finished why not go straight to the fireworks in Town Park and make it a truly memorable evening?

"To make the fun last longer why not take time out and go to one of the workshops before the event to make a mask or Jacobean collar to wear during the festivities, it will make sure you stand out from the crowd!"
