If you are stuck with something to do with the children during the summer holidays then look no further than local beauty spot Forty Hall for some wonderful ideas to pass the time.

The Hall is running a number of schemes and events which children of all ages can enjoy, and a special playscheme run in conjunction with Enfield Council’s Play Development Team.

The Holiday Activity Playscheme runs until 9th August and is a great way for children aged 8 to 11 to spend their day. Fun activities are being run such as insect hunting, arts, crafts and much more all in the house and grounds of Forty Hall.

On the 10th August a special treat is in store as between 12.00 noon and 4.00pm, local artist Blossom Carrasco will be encouraging children to make a self portrait out of their most favourite and least favourite food. ‘Food on My Face’ is £8 per child – just bring your own food and get a 3D portrait of yourself, then watch it printed and used in an exhibition. Not to be missed!

Also don’t forget to check out the Hidden Trail Chests which are FREE and located in four rooms in Forty Hall. Suitable for children aged between 4 and 11 they allow you to discover history for yourself as every wooden chest contains wonderful objects and costumes for handling and learning about the history of the Hall.

The Large Courtyard also now boasts a large easy-to-handle outdoor chess set and snakes and ladders game so that families can come and play over the summer.

Cllr Bambos Charalambous, Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure Youth and Localism said “This summer holiday popping into Forty Hall is absolutely essential if you have children as there is always something to see and do, the new chess and snakes and ladders set in particular seem great fun.

“There are holiday playschemes so you can take some time out for yourself knowing that your children are being looked after and having fun, or why not take them along to the great ‘Food on Your Face’ event on the 10th August?

“All year round there are also the Hidden Trail Chests to enjoy.. they look so much fun adults may wish to join in, but it’s strictly for children!! There is so much to do at Forty Hall over the summer make sure you find out everything that’s happening so you do not miss out”
