Valentine's Disco At Forty Hall

Valentine’s Disco Night at Forty Hall.. An Evening of Music and Dancing

Saturday 14th February 2015 (7.30pm – 10.00pm)

‘Wanna Be Friends’, part of the ‘Learning for Life Charity’, will be holding a Valentine’s Disco with music and dancing at Forty Hall on Saturday 14th February, which will see 200 young people with special needs coming together to make new friends within their local area.

The event aims to get teens with special needs out in the community to meet others of their own age and encourage wider social support networks. The event tackles the reality felt by many disabled people who report feeling isolated, and finding it difficult to socialise and build relationships.

Parents and carers will not be expected to attend the event.

Event organiser Julian Halford, Community & Enterprise Manager from West Lea School, said: “We chose Forty Hall, because we know it would be a safe and secure place for young people to come together without their parents, particularly with the new disability access and provision. It’s a wonderful place to start something new which we hope will continue, bringing young people together to make new friends”.

Cllr Rohini Simbodyal, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport, Youth and Public Health said “This event is an excellent example of not only how fully accessible Forty Hall is, but how well it works with the community, and schools such as West Lea, through its Education Programme.

“There is clearly a need to cater to young adults with special needs, to give them activities where they can have fun and meet others locally, and this Valentine’s Disco does just that, in beautiful surroundings. You will need to book quickly to ensure a place.”

The cost for the evening is £10.00 per person and is for ages 14 to 19, this includes a supper. Doors open at 7.30pm until 10.00pm.
