Public Access Update

The first phase of lifting the entry gates piers at Forty Hall Estate has commenced, resulting in temporary, limited vehicular access to the park.
Once the brick wall has been deconstructed and rebuilt further to the North, the piers will be reinstated resulting in a wider access approach from Forty Hill.
When the piers are repositioned (as phase 2) there will again be a short period of limited access due to the construction works, heavy machinery and public safety requirements.
The works have been programmed to avoid the school run and peak hours of use to minimise disruption wherever possible.
We apologise for any inconvenience experienced whilst we restore the nationally significant Forty Hall Estate.

Public Access Is Changing At Forty Hall & Estate

As part of the restoration project for the historic Parkland the following access changes and services are announced.

From Monday 6th October 2014

• Vehicles will not be allowed to drive up to the buildings unless authorised.
• There will be a vehicle control barrier installed to control vehicle access.
• Control of the vehicle control barrier will be from the buildings.
• The reason is to ensure a safer, calmer environment for all park users.
• All deliveries to the buildings will be made before 10am and after 4pm Monday-Friday only.
• Major events will be stewarded to and from the buildings by arrangement.
• No public parking will be allowed in the park or near the buildings.

By the end of September, the North drive and the South drive around the Lake in front of the Hall will be resurfaced in a heritage bonded gravel.

These roadways and associated paths will be made more accessible to pedestrians, buggies, and wheel chair users.
Cycle racks will be installed in the main car park and near to the Large Courtyard by October 2014.
